What do you do when your WIP (work in progress) turns into a UFO (unfinished object)? I bet you hide it in storage for a while. Well, that’s what I did with my one & only UFO…it was hidden for just about 10 years.
I knew it was there and it was waiting for me…since I am a finisher – nothing can be waisted! So one of my New Year’s resolutions was to finish this UFO.
There was no pattern, just handwritten notes, sketches, a bunch of swatches, and a few finished pieces. One of the sleeves was only partially finished, so my big challenge was to finish it exactly the same as the first sleeve. In addition, my knitting style has changed noticeably through the years and I had to calibrate the gauge using my old knitting style (combined continental knitting). Now I prefer Western continental style.
My old sketches were a little outdated & I definitely needed a new fresh finishing idea. If you follow my Quilting Blog, you probably noticed that I love upcycling & using denim fabrics. So I decided to upgrade my old denim jacket using all these beautiful knit pieces. Ta-daa it turned out fantastic!
If you hesitate to finish an old project, don’t give up but give it another chance. There is always more than only 1 way to finish a UFO.
