I am thinking about buying and making the large rug but I need to know the estimated time it takes to complete it, if you could, please ?
Hi Tonya, it depends on everyone’s skills to crochet and read patterns. The elephant rug takes approximately 2900 – 3200 yards of yarn but you need to hold 3 strands together, which makes it relatively fast to make. Wet blocking might take from 1 day to 1 week. Crochet level is intermediate with many step by step pictures and diagrams. You can find more information about required skills on our SITE.
Is there anyway to get a copy of the new elephant pattern without buying it?
Hi Benita, our Josefina and Jeffery patterns are not free, but here is the link to some free patterns on our site –> https://irarott.com/free
How big is the elephant rug?
Hi Teresa, if your gauge matches the pattern using 3 strands of yarn, then your rug will turn out approximately 62” (157.5 cm) across & 39” (99 cm) from the top of the head down.
i’m trying to buy several of these patterns and when i click on “add to cart” i get a pop-up that only lets me checkout one item at a time…how can i buy several items in one go thus saving shipping and handling?
Hi Shiraz, we do not ship our patterns as they are electronic files. You will be able to download them instantly after your payment goes through. To buy a few patterns at a time, you need to close your shopping cart window and add next pattern. Then close it again if you wish to add more. Once you add all patterns you like, you will be able to go to checkout & save 20% if you buy 4 or more patterns together. Hope it helps.
Hi can I boy a pattern in Euro’s? I don’t have a credit card
Hi Marieke, yes it will be converted automatically to your currency at checkout. You can pay through PayPal using your debit card or PayPal funds.
Ira, good afternoon. I am doing the elephant pillow and have just finished the first ear. I have a question if I may. When the ears are sewn onto the head, do I also sew up the longer side of the ears or is it left sort of like an open pocket, as it will be doubled won’t it once folded over? Many thanks for your time. Love the pattern and my daughter, who is getting it for Christmas but doesn’t know it yet, will love it also, as she adores elephants! Regards Ruth
Hi Ruth, thank you for your feedback, so happy you enjoyed the pattern. The longer side needs to stay open 🙂
could the rug pattern be made in lighter yarn so I can use it on my table?
Hi Carol, yes absolutely 🙂 Here is an example of 16″ elephant made by one of our customers from size #10 crochet thread –> https://www.facebook.com/Ira.Rott.Design/photos/a.219069931492179.52027.118452634887243/1117772348288595/?type=3&theater
would you know how many balls I would need? love your patterns you are very talented
Thank you Carol, which elephant pattern you are referring to?
the elephant rug done in #10 thread
It depends on how many yards in the ball of thread. For Elephant rug pattern you need approx 2500 yd (2300 m) in total.
Hi! Loving this pattern, however when creating the head, it’s becoming very conical and doesn’t lie flat. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you!
Hi Zoe, your circle should lay flat if your gauge, measurements, and stitch count match. But if you have difficulties, please feel free to send me your photos to ira@irarott.com
I just finished the Josefina rug, and was looking for the tutorial mentioned on page 27, for finishing the rug, but wasn’t able to find it.
Hi Norma, the lining tutorial is here –> https://blog.irarott.com/removable-non-slip-lining-for-crochet-rugs-behind-the-scenes-of-irarott-patterns/
I just love your patterns! Very well written and the pictures are very helpful. I have never seen a pattern so wonderful. I just finished Josefina & Jeffery Elephant Rug and it’s beautiful. I will be coming back for more patterns from you. Thank you.
Thank you, Mary. So glad you enjoy our patterns 🙂 Happy crafting!
I bought the elephant rug pattern and can you do a tutorial for the puff stitch for the ear .please and thanks
Hi Wanda, do you mean Popcorn stitch? If so, then you can find explanations with photos in the special stitches section of the pattern. We do not have any other tutorials for popcorn stitch at this time but you can check out this one on youtube https://youtu.be/H2xBe_R8UWI
I bought the rug pattern last year and just bought the pillow pattern. They both are adorable. My question is…….is there a particular reason the outer edge of the ears were left open on the pillow pattern?
Hi Dottie, there are no particular reasons, it’s just the way the design turned out. If you would like to finish your ears another way, you are more than welcome.
I am working on my 5th rug now . I have never tried anything like it before and now I am making them to sell. It has been very therapeutic for me. I wish I could post pictures of them. I love this pattern and it gets a lot of complements.
Hi LaShawn, I am so glad you are enjoying our patterns. You can post your photos on ravelry or on our Facebook wall. Also, you can tag me on instagram @irarott …I would love to see them 🙂
